Charlotte, N.C.- The magic from the series finale walk-off win against FAU over the weekend did not last long as UNC Greensboro swept the doubleheader from the Niners on Wednesday afternoon, 5-3 and 9-0.  Charlotte fell to 16-22 on the season after the loss.  UNC Greensboro improved to 20-23 on the season with the sweep.

Jackie Kleinsmith led the Niners at the plate going 3-4 in game one with a RBI.  Chelsea Ingersoll picked up a hit in both games of the doubleheader.  Jessie Fennell drew a career-high three walks in game one.

Game one did not go as planned for the Niners as the first batter of the game reached on a fielding miscue.  UNCG's Katelyn Bedwell singled through the left side of the infield to score the first run.  The Spartans scored again in the second and third innings to build a commanding 3-0 lead.

Charlotte cut into the deficit in the bottom of the third inning posting two runs off two hits and a Spartan error.  Natalie Capone (St. Charles, Ill./ St. Charles North) reached first and moved up to second on a Spartan throwing error.  Capone would end up at third on the ensuing pitch swiping third.  Samantha Slade (Apex, N.C./ Apex HS) drew a four pitch walk followed by a Jessica Plemmons (Lexington, N.C./ North Davidson HS) single deep in the hole at second base to score Capone.  Jackie Kleinsmith (Santa Maria, Calif./ Righetti HS) hit a RBI single to right field to score Slade from third to cut the Spartan lead to 3-2.

UNCG put the lead back to three scoring two in the top of the fifth inning.  A Spartan hit by pitch and a Bedwell two run home run gave the Spartans enough cushion heading into the latter innings.

Kleinsmith and Chelsea Lisikatos (Cold Spring, N.Y./ Haldene HS) picked up back-to-back hits through the left side of the infield to put the Niners in business.  Courtney Carroll (Clemmons, N.C./ West Forsyth HS) followed up with a single up the middle to load the bases.  Chelsea Ingersoll (Charlotte, N.C./ Butler HS) grounded out to second base allowing Kleinsmith to score from third.

The Niners had a chance to tie things up of walk it off in the bottom of the seventh.  Ingersoll doubled to right center with one out followed by Jessie Fennell's (Blaine, Tenn./ Grainger HS) and a Capone fielder's choice to load the bases.  A hot shot snagged by the pitcher kept the Niners off the board for the 5-3 victory.

In the night cap, the Spartans did all of its damage in the first two innings posting four runs in the first inning and five runs in the second.

The Spartans had 10 batters come to the plate scoring four runs off five hits and stranded the bases loaded.  In the top of the second inning, the Spartans had 10 batters come to the plate again, this time scoring five runs off four hits.

Charlotte picked up two base runners in the first two innings with Capone and Ingersoll reaching on the free pass.

Charlotte's best chance to crack the scoreboard came in the fourth inning.  Lisikatos drew a full count walk.  Ingersoll picked up the final hit for the Niners in the night cap with an infield single to the shortstop.
