Women’s basketball games to be aired on ESPN 730AM

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte women’s basketball program and WZGV ESPN 730AM, the flagship station for 49ers athletics, have announced an agreement for the station to carry two upcoming home games. ESPN 730AM will broadcast the Niners’ Conference USA contests with Old Dominion (Jan. 8) and Tulane (Jan. 22) from Halton Arena.

It marks the second-straight season in which the station has carried live women’s basketball coverage, after broadcasting three games in 2012-13. Those three matchups, including the inaugural contest Jan. 13 against Fordham, marked the first time in Charlotte’s women’s basketball history that games were broadcast by an over-the-air station.

Station assistant program director Bobby Rosinski, who also served as the sideline reporter for the inaugural 49ers football season this past fall, will be the play-by-play voice. Lanny Ford, station general manager and sales manager, will assist Rosinski in the color analyst role. The pair also called all three of the 2012-13 contests.

Each of the women’s basketball games that have been chosen by the station for coverage have been conference games, either Atlantic 10 last year or Conference USA this season.

All Charlotte women’s basketball games are typically heard on with Josh Feldman on the call. He has served as the program’s play-by-play voice for each of the last two years.

The 49ers are off to a 6-7 start this season through the conclusion of the non-conference schedule, which ended Friday with a 78-57 triumph over UNC Wilmington. Charlotte was picked to finish fourth in the preseason Conference USA race, a league in which it returns after previously competing in it from 1995-96 through 2004-05.
