Basketball coaches take turn on 49ers Coaches Show
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The weekly 49ers Coaches Show will take a look at the upcoming Charlotte basketball seasons Monday night when head men’s coach Alan Major and head women’s coach Cara Consuegra appear during the hour-long program, airing live on ESPN 730AM. The weekly show, from 7-8 p.m., is broadcast from Dave & Buster’s in Concord Mills weekly and has featured head football coach Brad Lambert; however, with football having a bye this week, basketball will step into the spotlight.

Major will be joined by hosts Matt Swierad and Lanny Ford for the first half-hour from 7-7:30 p.m. to preview the upcoming men’s campaign. The Niners men’s squad is coming off a NIT season and 21-12 record in Major’s third season. Four starters and eight letterwinners return in 2013-14, highlighted by Pierriá Henry who was named as a Preseason Player to Watch by Conference USA.

The second half-hour, from 7:30-8 p.m., will include Consuegra, Ford and Josh Feldman talking about the women’s hoops program. Charlotte welcomes back seven letterwinners and two starters from last year’s 26-6 WNIT Sweet 16 finish. Although the 49ers received no players on the preseason all-league squad, the program earned a respectable fourth-place prediction in the preseason Conference USA poll.

Fans are encouraged to attend the show live or send questions for the coaches on Twitter by submitting them to @Charlotte49ers.

Lambert will be back on the show next week but both basketball coaches will make more appearances once their seasons get underway.
