CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Anthony Bynum was named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Performer of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday for meets competed Mar. 25-31.
For the third consecutive week, Charlotte has had an athlete receive an A-10 weekly award. So far the 49ers have tallied six honors in the outdoor season.
Bynum, a freshman from Charlotte, N.C., garnered Men’s Performer of the Week after competition at the Virginia Invitational on Saturday. Bynum recorded a first-place finish in his collegiate debut in the 400-meters with a time of 47.29. His time in the 400m ranks fourth on the Charlotte all-time top ten list. Additionally, his 400m time is currently 25th in the nation and 11th in the NCAA East Region.
Bynum also had a third-place finish in the 100-meters with a time of 10.68. Bynum also ran the third leg of the Charlotte 4x100 relay team that recorded a time of 40.36 on the way to a first-place finish.
Charlotte will compete at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., held on April 4-6.
