SPARTANBURG, SC - Behind eight singles and doubles wins, the Charlotte 49ers (6-5) cruised past Wofford (2-5), 7-0, on the road.
The 49ers won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At number one doubles, Charlotte's Paul Cisti and Alex Calott had their match suspended with Wofford's Rob Galloway and Walker Heffron due to the 49ers already claiming the doubles point. Cisti and Calott were trailing 7-6. At number two doubles, Charlotte's Jack Williams and Jordi Massalle Ferrer improved to 6-1 on the season with an 8-4 win over Wofford's Jackson Keith and Parks Thompson. At number three doubles, Charlotte's Krzysztof Kwasniewicz and Kamil Khalil improved to 7-2 on the season with an 8-4 win over Wofford's Graham Duncan and David Sklar.
The 49ers won five of the six singles matches to claim the overall victory. At number one singles, Charlotte's Massalle Ferrer won his 18th singles match of the season with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 over Wofford's Galloway. At number two singles, Charlotte's Cisti won his 12th singles match of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Wofford's Drew Superstein. At number three singles, Charlotte's Calott won his 12th singles match of the season with a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 win over Wofford's Keith. At number four singles, Charlotte's Kwasniewicz defeated Wofford's Heffron, 7-6, 6-2. At number five singles, Charlotte's Khalil defeated Wofford's Duncan, 6-4, 7-5. At number six singles, Charlotte's Nate Shanok defeated Wofford's Thompson in three hard fought sets, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Charlotte returns to action with a double-header at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex against Catawba and Wingate on Monday, March 11.
