Stamey named A-10 Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chelsea Stamey was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.
Stamey, a senior third baseman from Charlotte batted .571 (4-7) over the weekend at the First Pitch Classic. She recorded five RBIs as the 49ers went 2-2 with victories against Presbyterian on Saturday and Sunday in extra innings.
Stamey’s single game high of four RBIs allowed Charlotte to score four runs in the fourth and eighth innings to get the 11-8 win over Presbyterian on Sunday.
On Saturday, she recorded a hit against the Blue Hose and scored twice to help Charlotte to a 8-6 victory in eight innings.
This marks the first time in Stamey’s career that she has received an Atlantic 10 weekly award.
The Niners will host the Charlotte Classic on Saturday, Feb.16 and Sunday, Feb. 17 at the D.L. Phillips Complex. Participating in the tournament are Youngstown State, Drexel, and Army.
