Freshman Riley Davenport (Woodstock, Ga.) turned in a four-over 76, including a team-best four birdies in his final round. He had the biggest improvement from round one to three, and led the team on Monday. His four-over round tied freshman Dan Hendry (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) for the low round of the weekend for Charlotte.
"Today was a little better," said Niners head coach Ryan Cabbage. "On a day when weather conditions were absolutely brutal, I thought we did some better things. I thought we had a chance to post a very nice number. We still have some work to do this week to get ready for Chapel Hill and we're looking forward to getting back to work."
Hendry was the most consistent player for the weekend, matching his five-over 77 from round two, after starting the weekend with a four-over 76 for a +14 (230) and into a tie for 32nd to lead Charlotte.
Sophomore Raoul Menard (Ange-Gardier, Quebec City, Canada) posted five birdies in round two, the most for a 49er in a round so far this season, in a five-over 77, his low round of the tournament. His nine birdies were tied for the fifth-most for any player for the weekend, with only 11 players turning in more birdies on their cards in the three rounds.
Charlotte will compete this coming weekend at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, hosted by UNC Chapel Hill Saturday and Sunday at the Finley Golf Course.
