The Charlotte 49ers recognized Tom and Lib Phillips prior to this week's baseball game vs. Duke for endowing a scholarship for the baseball program.

The Tom & Lib Phillips Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund for Baseball will provide scholarship support for one 49ers baseball student-athlete in perpetuity. 

Tom and Lib Phillips, for whom the 49ers baseball field is named, have long been supporters of the 49ers athletic department and, in particular, the baseball program.

"Tom and Lib have been dear friends of the 49ers for many, many years," said 49ers Director of Athletics Judy Rose.  "To stand on Phillips Field and see what their support has meant to our program is humbling.  We cannot thank them enough for all that they have done."
