CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Seniors Katy Hackett and Tenaya Tucker earned 2011 All-State honors on Thursday the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association announced. Tucker garnered All-State honors in 2009, while Hackett received the accolade for the first time in her career. Tucker, an All-Mid-Atlantic Region first-team honoree, started and played in all 54 games for the Niners this season. Tucker broke the single-season record of 11 home runs, knocking 12 out of the park this season. In her 170 at-bats, she led the 49ers in multiple offensive categories such as batting average (.388), hits (66), doubles (17), home runs (12) and RBIs (47). Her 47 RBIs are tied for second-most all-time by a 49er in a single season. She garnered first-team All-Atlantic-10 and Academic All-Conference status. Hackett led the Niners the entire year on the mound, compiling a 21-12 record and a 1.89 earned run average. The Dacula, Ga., native went the distance in 31 games and recorded 10 shutouts on the year. Hackett received second-team All-Conference and A-10 All-Tournament Team recognition. Against UNC Greensboro on Feb. 18, she struck out a career-high 15 batters and versus Elon on April 13, she came three outs shy of a perfect game. |
