Law Closes out NCAA Career

DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Darius Law closed out his Charlotte career and junior Jake Deaton placed 18th in the discus in the first day of action at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships' Finals in Des Moines, Iowa.

Deaton placed 18th in the discus in Des Moines with a throw of 174-01. The Mooresville, N.C., product earned honorable mention All-America in the event with the 18th-place showing, and will compete in the shot put on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Law, who compiled one of the most prolific careers in Charlotte track and field history, closed out his NCAA track and field tenure in the men's 400-meters on Wednesday. The 2010 Indoor All-American product ran 26.27 for 22nd place. Law will compete for Charlotte at the USATF Track and Field Championships on June 22-26 in Eugene, Ore.

Senior Keara Thomas will run in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinals on Thursday in Des Moines. Results and a recap will be available on will provide live results and the NCAA will provide a live Webcast.
