After winning the last two games of a weekend road series at Xavier, Charlotte baseball interrupts a nine-game road trip with a Tuesday home contest against Presbyterian, which begins at 6 p.m. The 49ers will then head back out on the road for a trip to Chapel Hill and the No. 1 Tar Heels Wednesday night at 6 p.m.

The 49ers are 24-16 overall entering this five-game week. The 49ers have the Atlantic 10 Conference’s RBI leader (Brett Lang with 36) and the wins leader (Hunter May with seven). Charlotte is 19-8 at home this season, looking for the 16th season of 20 or more home wins.

Charlotte and Presbyterian have split their four matchups in the all-time series, with the 49ers winning both games played in Charlotte. PC enters the week with a 21-20 record after losing two of three over the weekend at Charleston Southern and has dropped 10 of its last 14 baseball contests. This contest marks the end of a nine-game road swing for the Blue Hose. Presbyterian is averaging a little over four runs per game, with Brad Zebedis leading the team with 23 RBI.

After a Tuesday night home game against UNC Wilmington, the Tar Heels will host Charlotte at Boshamer Stadium. North Carolina is the consensus number-one team since the beginning of the season and has won 14-straight games with an overall record of 39-2. Both of the Tar Heels’ losses have come at home, an 11-inning loss to unranked Clemson on April 1, and 4-1 to start a weekend series against 29th-ranked Miami on March 15. Colin Moran leads the nation in runs scored (55) and RBI (62).

Monday, Charlotte starting pitcher Brock Hudgens (Jamestown, N.C. / Southwest Guilford HS) was named Pitcher of the Week in the Atlantic 10 Conference for the second-straight week, becoming the first back-to-back honoree this season. Hudgens set a season high for a Charlotte pitcher with 10 strikeouts in a 3-2 Sunday win at Xavier to push Charlotte into a tie for fourth in the league standings at the halfway point.

Following this pair of midweek contests, the 49ers will travel to Philadelphia to take on Temple, starting Friday at 3 p.m.
