CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team gears up for the final two weeks of the regular season by hitting the road for three of its last four games, starting with a 7 p.m. Wednesday tip in Amherst, Mass., against Massachusetts.

Fortunately for the Niners, the road has been a welcoming place thus far this season. The team is 8-0 in true away games and 9-1 overall in contests played in other cities other than Charlotte. The 49ers are the lone unbeaten away squad in the Atlantic 10 this year.

Overall, Charlotte is 20-4, having lost just once since the calendar flipped to 2013, with a 9-1 A-10 mark to currently place second behind nationally-ranked Dayton. The 49ers are one full game behind the Flyers in the regular-season race.

Charlotte takes a season-best nine-game win streak into Wednesday's meeting with the Minutewomen after defeating George Washington at home Sunday, 68-56, as part of the annual Play 4Kay initiative. The victory was the Niners' 20^th of the season, reaching the milestone for the 13^th time in the program's 38-year history.

Four Niners starters reached double-figure scoring in the triumph, helping solidify a balanced attack that features each member of the starting five averaging at least 8.8 points per game. Four-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week Jennifer Hailey continues to lead the squad with her averages of 15.5 points and 12.0 rebounds, while fellow senior post Amanda Dowe is also averaging a double-double of 11.0 points and 11.2 rebounds.

The three remaining starters averaging in double figures include Ny Hammonds (10.0 ppg), Hillary Sigmon (9.8) and Jai Forney (8.8). Hammonds, who has ranked among the nation's top assists leaders all season, has handed out 155 through Sunday and is closing in on the school's single-season record. Sigmon has buried 50 3-pointers, more than two-thirds the entire team total, to currently place seventh on the program's single-season chart. Forney tallied double-digit points in Sunday's win, her most points in nearly a month.

Massachusetts presently owns a 3-21 record and a 1-8 mark in the Atlantic 10 under third-year head coach Sharon Dawley. The Minutewomen will play Tuesday night in Kingston, R.I., against Rhode Island in a rescheduled game before welcoming the 49ers to the Mullins Center.

Jasmine Watson, a Preseason All-Atlantic 10 Second Team honoree, guides the team with 12.0 points per game, while Rashida Timbilla is the squad's top rebounder at 8.2 per contest through UMass' 81-63 setback at Richmond Sunday.

Charlotte has won the last eight meetings in the series to claim a 9-1 advantage entering Wednesday's matchup. The 49ers captured an 80-58 triumph last year at home and have won three straight in Amherst since dropping their first-ever contest up there in November 2000.
