PHILADELPHIA - Charlotte got on the scoreboard first but host La Salle rallied for a pair of goals, including the clincher early in the second half, to secure a 2-1 Atlantic 10 women's soccer victory in a matchup of the top-two programs in the conference Sunday afternoon.

The loss, the 49ers' first in over a month, snaps a six-game win streak in the midst of a current five-match road trip.

The Explorers were able to maintain their perfect league ledger, improving to 6-0 against the rest of the conference and 12-3 overall with the triumph, their ninth consecutive.

Senior Carrie Dail gave Charlotte (10-4-1, 4-1 A-10) a 1-0 lead at 23:36 when she received a pass from classmate Lena Suarez before chipping it over the head of La Salle goalkeeper Gabby Pakhtigian. The score, Dail's sixth of the year, came on the 49ers' opening shot of the contest.

Charlotte would continue maintain the edge despite a barrage of attempts and corner kicks by the Explorers until the equalizer came at the 37:57 mark. Renee Washington fed the ball to Kelsey Haycook, who juggled it around the Niner defense before placing it inside the frame and behind goalkeeper Annika McHenry to knot the score at 1-1.

Four more La Salle shots, including two in the last 1:03 of the half by Maryam Huseini, were sent towards the 49ers cage but denied as McHenry came up with a pair of saves.

The Explorers, however, quickly capitalized as the second stanza began. Just 19 seconds into the period, at 45:19, Jackie Cammarata located Washington on a long pass. Washington fired her attempt in the direction of the Charlotte goal and it deflected in between the pipes for what would prove to be the game winner.

The 49ers would finish with four shots in the contest, trailing by 15 in the category, but none in the last 30 minutes of regulation.

Charlotte will look to get back on track as it concludes the five-game road swing through the conference next weekend. The two-match set starts at 4 p.m. Friday at Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass., before finishing at 1 p.m. Sunday in Kingston, R.I., against Rhode Island at the site of the Atlantic 10 Championships.
