Davidson, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team completed a successful first day at the Jim Causey Invitational at Davidson College. Charlotte won seven of the eight singles matches they played. They also won five of the eight doubles matches they played. Charlotte played players from Appalachian State in singles. Then, the 49ers competed against Campbell and Davidson in doubles.
In singles action, in flight one, Charlotte's Jack Williams defeated Appalachian State's Sebastien King, 7-6, 6-4. In flight two, Charlotte's Alex Calott defeated Appalachian State's Carson Greve, 6-3, 6-3. In flight three, Charlotte's Jordi Massalle Ferrer defeated Appalachian State's Zach Bost, 6-1, 3-6, 11-9. In flight four, Charlotte's Paul Cisti defeated Appalachian State's Robert Jenkins, 6-0, 6-0. In flight five, Charlotte's Forrest Edwards defeated Appalachian State's Zeke Sansing, 7-6, 6-3. In flight six, Charlotte Nate Shanok defeated Appalachian State's Steve Lake, 7-6, 6-3. In flight seven, Charlotte's Alex Weber lost to Appalachian State's Michael Smith, 7-6, 6-3. In flight eight, Charlotte's Hector Linares defeated Appalachian State's Tyler Pyle, 6-4, 6-3.
