"It was an incredible game," Charlotte coach Kevin Langan said. "I am so proud of our guys to fight back after being down with just over 30 minutes left in regulation. I am really proud of our team's effort and determination tonight. We played 17 guys so it was a total team win."

Charlotte tied the score when Giuseppe Gentile headed in an Isaac Caughran pass in the 73rd minute. Gentile's goal was his third of the season and the 13th of his career.

Charlotte's Mayhew scored the game-winning goal in the 103rd minute. Tyler Gibson passed the ball to Thomas Allen who headed it to Mayhew who then put the ball into the back of the net. Mayhew's goal was his first of the season and the fifth of his career. Mayhew's goal was his first career game-winner.

Charlotte finished the game with 15 shots. Gibson and Gentile led the 49ers with three shots apiece. Owen Darby and Mayhew each recorded two shots apiece.

Charlotte will take a nine-day break and when the 49ers return to action they will open Atlantic 10 play with a road trip to Richmond, Virginia. The 49ers face VCU on the road in their A-10 opener, Friday, October 5 at 7 pm.
