Charlotte women's tennis captured its 18th doubles point of the season, but could not capture a singles win and fell in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Championships 4-1 to Richmond Saturday at the Boars Head Sports Club. The 49ers finish their season 16-6, tied for the most wins in a season under head coach Michaela Gorman.

Charlotte's top doubles pair of senior Andrea Rivera (Lima, Peru) and junior Alexandra Zinn (Trelleborg, Sweden) took a 9-8 win to clinch the doubles point. They finish their season 18-5 as a pair, with Rivera ending her career with 79 doubles wins, second place all-time at Charlotte.

That win followed the first doubles victory of the day, an 8-2 win at number two by junior Anna Ekelund (Lomma, Sweden) and freshman Lisa Grosselius (Molndal, Sweden) as the pair finished 21-2 together this season, taking four matches in a row. Grosselius finished 21-4 in doubles with two partners, putting her in a tie for 11th all-time for doubles win in a season. She ties former Niner Ana Spivakovsky for the second-most doubles wins by a freshman, two behind Julia Junker (23) for the most in a season by a freshman. Adding a win with another doubles partner, Ekelund's 22 doubles wins put her in a tie for seventh in program history for doubles win in a season.

The Spiders avenged an earlier 4-3 loss to Charlotte on April 6 in Richmond, their only defeat in conference this season. Richmond faces Massachusetts in the Championship final Sunday.

The Charlotte men's and women's teams combined for the third-best winning percentage in school history (.689), with the men adding a 15-8 mark to the women's record. The 31 combined wins were fourth in program history.

Rivera is the lone senior in the program on the 10-woman roster.
