Charlotte women's tennis, still missing its top singles player this week, lost its final home match of the season, 5-2 to UNCG at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex Wednesday. Charlotte was down two of its usual six in the lineup, and UNCG had a player in the lineup retire in the hot sun. Both programs are 13-4 on the season, with UNCG winning its eighth-straight match. Charlotte started the year 9-0 at home, but lost both matches this week with depth issues.

The jumbled Charlotte lineup failed to win a doubles match, dropping a pair of 8-6 results.

In singles, freshman Natsuko Takayanagi (Fukui, Japan) got her 20th win of the season when her opponent had to call the match short after Takayanagi took the opening set 6-2.

Charlotte's other freshman in the lineup, Lisa Grosselius (Molndal, Sweden), won in straight sets at number three, 6-3, 6-3. It was her first win at number three this season, and her season record improved to 13-9. She is 12-5 in dual matches this season.

The match was the last at home for lone senior Andrea Rivera (Lima, Peru), who is second in program history with 75 career doubles wins, and is in a four-way tie for sixth at Charlotte with 61 singles victories.

The 49ers will finish out the season on the road for the final three matches, starting Friday at Richmond for the final conference match of the season at 2 p.m.
