In its second neutral-site league match in as many days, Charlotte men's tennis garnered a win over an Atlantic 10 Conference foe taking out Saint Joseph's 6-1 Sunday at Richmond's Westhampton Tennis Complex. The win gives Charlotte a 10-3 record, 2-0 in the A-10. The 49ers' three losses all came on the road at nationally-ranked opponents. The Hawks fall to 1-7 overall, 0-4 in conference matches.

The 49ers swept all six singles points to capture the team victory. The matches at number three and number four went to a tiebreaking superset, but the 49ers won in straight sets in the other spots to clinch the win.

"This was a good road swing for us," said Charlotte head coach Billy Boykin. "We went 2-for-2 in conference play away from home and that's never easy."

Freshman Kamil Khalil (Moscow, Russia) was his seventh-straight singles match, 6-1, 6-0 at number two. He is 7-1 since joining the team in time for the spring semester. The team leaders in singles victories, freshmen Alex Calott (Charlotte, N.C. / Ardrey Kell HS) and Jack Williams (Alpharetta, Ga.) stayed tied for the team lead of 13 singles wins. Freshman Paul Cisti (Arcachon, France) kept pace with his 12th singles win of the season. All three have won three in a row. Williams leads with nine wins in dual matches.

Saint Joseph's scored its lone team point by taking two of the three doubles matches. Charlotte's win came at number one, where Calott and Williams won their sixth doubles match of the season, 8-6.

After their previous four matches were all away from home, the 49ers will play five of the next seven at home, starting with a Thursday match versus East Carolina at noon.
