Charlotte saw a one-out single by junior designate hitter Miguel Rodriguez (Cape Coral, Fla.) before back-to-back RBI doubles from shortstop Justin Roland (Salisbury, N.C. / East Rowan HS) and right fielder Justin Wilson (Canton, N.C. / Pisgah HS). Wilson scored on an RBI single from left fielder Tony Montalbano (New Orleans, La.) to complete the scoring for the inning.

A Rodriguez RBI single in the fourth started the scoring, before Wilson's bases-loaded double drove in three more runs. Wilson led all players with four hits in the game and eight hits for the weekend series, ending 8-for-12 with four runs and six RBI. He had three doubles in the contest.

After UMass scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, Charlotte put up six runs in the top of the sixth, including a three-run homer to left by second baseman Corey Shaylor (Charlotte, N.C. / Independence HS). Shaylor leads the squad with four home runs this season and is tied with outfielder Cory Tilton (Cary, N.C. / Green Hope HS) with 11 career home runs, most among active players.

The Minutemen scored four in the bottom of the sixth and Charlotte finished the scoring with three more runs in the seventh, two of them scoring on a double by Montalbano. He tied Wilson with four RBI in the contest and tied his career high with three runs scored.
