Katie Powers, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist
Katie Powers, MS RD CSSD LDN, is a Registered Dietitian with the Student Health Center at UNC Charlotte. She has been in her role as campus RD, providing nutrition education and programs for UNC Charlotte students, since fall 2006. She completed her Bachelor of Science in nutrition and food science from the University of Tennessee in 1991. In 1993, she completed a Master's of Science from UT in Human Nutrition which included an internship in clinical and public health nutrition. In July of 2008, Katie completed the required experience and continuing education hours to sit for the Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics national exam. She has used this certification to enhance the programs and services offered to the 49er athletic program.
What is provided?
Individual counseling and group presentations focusing on general healthy eating and sports nutrition guidelines. Topics may include individual nutrition assessment and goal setting, pre/post training nutrition, weight management, eating disorders, healthy eating on the road, hydration, nutrition during injury rehab, nutritional supplements, Pyramid guidelines, etc.
Individual appointments are held in ATAC A128 or at Student Health Center Room 112F.

Katie's drop-in hours are in ATAC A128 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. If you cannot make one of these times contact Katie by phone or email.
