DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Charlotte 49ers Gold Dusters wrapped up competition today in the 2010 NCA/NDA Collegiate National Championship finishing in seventh place. The team from Towson University took the 2010 national championship.
The Gold Dusters finished the first day seventh in the prelims to earn a spot as one of 9 teams to advance to the finals. While earning an improved score of 8.885 on day 2, the team remained seventh among a tough field.
"The girls gave me chills," said head coach Danielle Terrell. "They came alive on stage bringing an energy and intensity that gave the judges a great show! We are pleased with our performance - the team's hard work and determination definitely paid off."
Competing in the Division I category the 49ers took on 16 other schools in the national competition. The teams were required to perform a maximum of 2 minutes, 15 seconds including 30 consecutive seconds of each style of dance (jazz, pom, and hip hop).
