Nagy Climbs Leaderboard at US Amateur

Charlotte 49ers two-time all-America Corey Nagy (Charlotte, N.C./Vance H.S.) shot a three-under par 67 in the second and final round of stroke play at the 108th Annual USGA US Amateur at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, Tuesday. He stands at -3 after two rounds. The top 64 players following the second round will advance to Wednesday's bracketed match play. While a large portion of the field is either still on the course or just beginning their second round, Nagy was tied for second when he walked off the course. Read Full Release

Charlotte-Davidson Game Back On

The Charlotte 49ers - Davidson Wildcats long-standing basketball series is back on. With the two programs seemingly at an impasse due to scheduling conflicts, Charlotte 49ers athletic director Judy Rose and Davidson athletic director Jim Murphy found a way to get The "Hornet's Nest" game back on the schedule, Friday. The two-time defending Atlantic 10 champion Charlotte 49ers women’s soccer team begins practice for the 2008 season in a couple of weeks. The 49ers goalkeeping duties are in good hands this season with the return of three upperclassman goalkeepers in senior Juli Black and juniors Lauren Brown and Nicole Mercer. Brown, who is a preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection, and Black rank among the program’s all-time leaders in career goals against average.
